Queries used to be advertisements in newspapers or a genealogy magazine... now they are done online.

The genealogical community is world wide and many of its citizens will go out of their way to help fellow researchers.

Books We Own is a place for bookowners to list their willingness to do lookups in books held in home libraries. Perhaps someone has the very book you need to check. has a record lookups forum -- but sometimes you have success making a request on the locality forum for the area in which you need the lookup.
